ONCE UPON AN ORCHESTRA
April 2026
"Once Upon an Orchestra" at Clymer Library
On Thursday, April 23, Clymer Library proudly hosted the Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic for an interactive performance of "Once Upon an Orchestra." This free, community-funded program brought kindergarten students from Tobyhanna Elementary Center into the library for an unforgettable fusion of reading and music.
Storytelling in Stereo
NEPA Philharmonic Executive Director Chason Goldschmitz narrated Last Stop on Market Street, the beloved children's book by Matt de la Peña. As the story progressed, a talented cello duo performed a live, synchronized soundtrack that perfectly matched the narrative's mood.
Why Events Like This Matter
Beyond the fun, this event directly impacts early childhood development in Pocono Pines by focusing on:
-
Early Literacy: Aligning with the PA Forward Star Program.
-
Active Listening: Building essential kindergarten readiness skills.
-
Arts Access: Introducing classical instruments to kids in a comfortable, familiar space.
We extend our deep gratitude to the Community Foundation of Monroe County for funding this program, and to the Friends of Clymer Library for their ongoing support. Stay tuned to our events calendar for more upcoming family programs!
