Friends of Clymer Library’s mission is to support and enhance the library services to the community. It is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization made up of volunteers that is separate from the Clymer Library. Friends raises funds through its Book Sale and Holiday Boutique, and other fundraisers, as well as through an annual membership campaign, all of which generate income to help pay for updates to the library’s circulation collection and requests as specified by the library’s director. In addition, Friends hosts programs throughout the year, such as literary salons, lectures, film screenings and other engaging events.
We welcome your participation! If you would like to volunteer with us, please contact our board president Johanna Beedenbender at 631-796-7982 or send an email to friendsofclymerlibrary@gmail.com.

FRIENDS PRESENTS CHECK TO CLYMER BOARD

The Friends of Clymer Library presented a check to the Board of Trustees of Clymer Library at their December 2022 Board meeting. This is the remaining balance of the $10,000 that Friends committed for the calendar year 2022. President Suzanne Penavic (left) and Library Director Mary Erm (right) accept the gift from Friends President Johanna Beedenbender (center).
The Friends is an active group of volunteers established in 2017. In 2022 they organized events and activities such as book sales, plant sales, a 2023 dog calendar, book author presentations, a Trex bench donation, and a Holiday Boutique. Their efforts support the Library in many ways, such as the recently paying for the new Clymer Library sign and installation in front of the Library. Generous contributions from Friends help buy books to add to the library’s collections, as well as fund programs and events. They make annual contributions to fund-raising events such as the House Tour and Brunch in August.
Clymer Library and the Board of Trustees are grateful for the support of the Friends of Clymer Library, and look forward to more collaboration and new projects in 2023.

SAVE THE DATE!
Mark your calendars: The 2023 book sale is scheduled for Thursday August 10th through Saturday August 12th.

TREX BENCH UNVEILING

Friends of Clymer Library and Boy Scout Troop 94 unveiled the new Trex bench on the patio at Clymer Library Monday, September 19. The Trex bench is the result of the entire Pocono Pines and surrounding communities’ donations of 500 pounds of clean plastic film, which was recycled by the Trex company for the manufacture of this bench. Friends of Clymer Library initiated the project with collection sites at the Clymer Library, Selig Center, Arrowhead Lake, Pocono Summit Fire Company and the Pocono Pines Post Office. Boy Scout Troop 94 collected, weighed, stored and then brought the film to Weis Supermarkets, who shipped it to Trex. Friends of Clymer Library wants to thank all those who participated in the success of this project. It is hoped that in the future more benches can be placed throughout the area by recycling plastic film.
